Marguerite Bourgeoys fondatrice de la Congrégation de Notre-Dame.

La plupart des chapelles dans les nombreux couvents de la Congrégation avaient des pièces provenant de l’atelier de Joseph Guardo. Là où les donataires étaient plus affluents on commandait des pièces originales. Voici deux grands panneaux illustrant l’un, l’établissement de la première école à Ville Marie (Sorel), l’autre, représentant Marguerite Bourgeoys, institutrice.

Voici deux autres œuvres exécutées pour la Congrégation. Une statue et un haut relief. Celui-ci est le modèle en terre glaise.

Ce gisant de Mère Bourgeoys fut le premier à être créé pour la Maison Mère de la Congrégation. Nous ne pouvons dire si il existe encore. L’immeuble maintenant laïque est la résidence du Collège Dawson.

Most of the convents and schools with Chapels of the Congregation had work which came from the Guardo Studio. Where donors were more generous special sculptures were commissioned. Here are two of these commissioned panels. One, in Sorel, represents the establishment of the first school. The second represents Mother Bourgeoys teaching a class.

Here are two other special interpretations of Mother Bourgeoys executed for the Congregation.  One is a full statue. The other is a high relief. This is the clay model.

This effigy of Mother Bourgeoys was the first to be created. It was commissioned by the Mother House of the Congregation. We do not know if it still exists. The building is now the seat of Dawson College.
